Project overview

Supply and professional installation of QMotion battery-operated motorised roller blinds and 240v mains-powered motorised skylight blinds for a private residential property in central London. This bespoke domestic project combined two of the most popular motorised blind technologies available — QMotion’s whisper-quiet, wire-free roller blind system for the main windows, and hardwired 240v electric skylight blinds for the property’s roof lights — creating a unified, smart-home-ready window treatment solution throughout the home.

QMotion battery-operated roller blinds

QMotion is one of the world’s leading motorised blind systems, renowned for its ultra-quiet motor technology and completely wire-free installation. For this London property, QMotion battery roller blinds were fitted throughout the main living areas and bedrooms — requiring no mains wiring, no structural alterations, and no disruption to the home’s interior finishes.

Each QMotion blind is powered by a long-life rechargeable battery pack concealed within the headrail, and operated via the QMotion remote control app or hand-held remote — making them an ideal retrofit solution for period London properties where running new cables would be impractical or costly.

240v mains-powered motorised skylight blinds

For the property’s skylight and roof windows — where battery access is impractical and a permanent, high-performance solution was required — we supplied and installed 240v mains-powered motorised skylight blinds. These hardwired electric blinds are made-to-measure for each roof window opening, providing a precise, secure fit and reliable long-term operation without the need for battery changes or recharging.

Mains-powered 240v skylight blinds are the preferred choice for permanent domestic installations where the roof window is either fixed, difficult to access, or forms part of a larger automated home system. The blinds were wired discreetly during installation and integrated into the same control ecosystem as the QMotion roller blinds, giving the homeowner unified control of all window treatments from a single interface.

Permanent power supply

240v mains connection means no batteries to replace — perfect for skylights in high or inaccessible roof positions.

Made-to-measure fit

Each skylight blind is precision-cut to the exact roof window dimensions for a draught-proof, rattle-free installation.

Heat & UV protection

Specialist skylight fabrics block solar heat gain and damaging UV rays — reducing overheating in top-floor London rooms.

Smart home ready

Compatible with KNX, Lutron, Control4 and other home automation platforms for full smart home integration.

Our installation process

We begin every project with a free home survey covering precise measurements, motor selection, fabric consultation, and control system planning. For this central London installation, our team managed the complete process from survey through to commissioning — coordinating with the client’s electrician for the 240v skylight wiring and handling all QMotion programming and pairing in-house. The result was a fully operational, integrated blind system handed over in a single day’s installation.
