Luxaflex Made to Measure Blinds, Shutters & Awnings

The Luxaflex Plissé is a precision pleated blind for standard, shaped and skylight windows — compressing into a compact stack at the top or bottom of the window when raised, and deploying into crisp, even horizontal folds when lowered. Available in an extensive range of light-filtering, room-darkening and blackout fabrics, the Plissé is the correct specification wherever a neat, low-profile blind is needed for windows where a roller blind or roman blind is unsuitable.

 FAQ

What is the Luxaflex Plissé pleated blind?

The Luxaflex Plissé is a precision pleated blind that compresses into a compact stack at the head or foot of the window when raised and deploys into crisp, even horizontal folds when lowered. It is made to measure for the exact dimensions of the window opening — including shaped, arched, triangular and non-rectangular frames — and fits entirely within the window reveal with no external hardware visible from the room. It is available in light-filtering, room-darkening and blackout fabrics across an extensive colour range, and in both manual and motorised PowerView versions. We supply and install the Luxaflex Plissé across Poole, Dorset and the South Coast as an authorised Luxaflex dealer.

Can the Luxaflex Plissé be used on skylights?

Yes. The Plissé is one of the most commonly specified pleated blinds for flat and shallow-pitched skylights and roof lights — particularly in applications where a motorised skylight blind system is not required or not practical. The blind fits within the skylight frame and raises to a compact stack at the top of the opening when maximum light is required. Both top-down and bottom-up operation are available, allowing the blind to be positioned from either the top or the bottom of the skylight opening. For steeply pitched skylights, overhead glazing and any skylight application where motorised operation is required, the Silent Gliss SG 2195 or SG 8600 motorised skylight blind systems are the more appropriate specification — we advise on the correct solution for the specific glazing geometry and pitch during a free site survey.

What is top-down bottom-up operation on the Luxaflex Plissé?

Top-down bottom-up operation allows the Plissé blind to be operated from either end of the window independently. In standard top-down operation, the blind lowers from the top of the window to cover the lower portion of the glazing — providing privacy at street level whilst leaving the upper portion of the window open to the sky. In bottom-up operation, the blind raises from the bottom of the window to cover the lower portion — useful for ground floor windows where privacy from outside is required at the lower section whilst maintaining the view and natural light from the upper section. Top-down bottom-up combines both, allowing the blind to be positioned at any point in the window independently from either end. This is particularly useful on tall windows, skylights and shaped windows where standard single-direction operation restricts the light and privacy management options available.

Is the Luxaflex Plissé available in blackout fabric?

Yes. The Luxaflex Plissé is available in blackout fabric for applications requiring effective light exclusion — bedroom windows, skylights in sleeping areas and any window where a light-filtering pleated blind is insufficient. The blackout fabric in the Plissé range achieves significant light reduction, though the degree of light exclusion also depends on the fit of the blind within the frame — a precisely made and fitted Plissé in blackout fabric performs considerably better than a standard-size blind with gaps at the sides and base. Every Plissé we supply is made to measure for the exact frame dimensions, maximising the blackout performance of the fabric. We advise on the most appropriate blackout fabric and fitting method for the specific window and application during the site survey.
