Curved walls, circular rooms and non-linear window openings present a specification challenge that most curtain track systems cannot address. A rigid aluminium track — however accurately bent — has a minimum bend radius determined by its profile depth. Below that radius, the profile kinks or the glider channel distorts. For tight curves, bow-fronted windows, circular rooms and elliptical geometries, a rigid track is simply not the correct solution. The Silent Gliss 6840 is.
The SG 6840 uses a flexible profile that bends smoothly to any curve — including very tight radii that rigid tracks cannot follow — without distorting the glider channel, splitting the profile or creating resistance in the curtain draw. It can follow a straight line, a gentle arc, a tight semicircle or a complete circle. This makes it the only Silent Gliss track system capable of running curtains around a full circular or elliptical room, across a bow-fronted bay window with a tight radius, or along any curved architectural feature where a rigid track would require complex jointing or compromise.
The SG 6840 is hand or cord operated, carries light to medium curtain weights and is available in ceiling-fix and wall-fix configurations. It is compatible with standard curtain tape headings. As an authorised Silent Gliss dealer, we supply the SG 6840 in standard Silent Gliss finishes and provide full installation, including on-site measurement of the curve geometry, track shaping to the required profile and final curtain dressing. Accurate measurement of the curve is the critical first step — we carry out a full site survey for every SG 6840 installation to confirm the radius, the wall profile and the fixing substrate before ordering.

System: Silent Gliss SG 6840 flexible curtain track.
Profile: flexible extruded section — bends to any curve geometry including circular and elliptical. Minimum bend radius: no practical minimum — suitable for tight curves that rigid profiles cannot follow. Operation: hand draw or cord draw. Glider type: nylon. Heading compatibility: standard curtain tape. Fixing: ceiling-fix or wall-fix via appropriate brackets for curved substrate. Finishes: white (RAL 9016), silver, ecru, black. Curtain weight: light to medium. Installation note: on-site curve geometry measurement required before ordering — do not order from drawings alone. Complex geometries may require multiple track sections joined on site. Recommended alternative for heavier curtain weights on bay windows: Silent Gliss SG 3840 bent track (cord operated) or SG 5600 bent track (motorised). Supply and installation available across Poole, Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Christchurch and the wider Dorset and South Coast area. NBS specification text, product data sheets and BIM objects available on request from our specification team.
FAQ
What is the Silent Gliss 6840 curtain track?
The Silent Gliss 6840 is a flexible curtain track that bends to follow any curved wall, bay window, circular room or non-linear window opening. Unlike a rigid aluminium track, the SG 6840’s flexible profile has no practical minimum bend radius — it can follow very tight curves, complete circles and complex geometries that rigid tracks cannot address without kinking or distorting the glider channel. It operates by hand or cord draw, carries light to medium curtain weights and is available in ceiling-fix and wall-fix configurations. We supply and install the Silent Gliss 6840 across Poole, Dorset and the South Coast as an authorised Silent Gliss dealer.
Can the Silent Gliss 6840 be used for bay windows?
Yes, and it is particularly well suited to bow-fronted bay windows with a tight or continuously curving radius that a rigid bent track cannot follow. For standard angled bay windows — where the bay consists of flat panels at set angles — a rigid SG 3840 bent to the bay angle is often the more appropriate specification. For bow-fronted bays, curved bays and any bay where the radius is too tight for a rigid aluminium track, the SG 6840 is the correct solution. We survey every bay window installation individually and advise on the most appropriate track system for the specific bay geometry at no obligation.
What curtain heading types are compatible with the Silent Gliss 6840?
The SG 6840 is compatible with standard curtain tape headings. It is not wave-compatible in the way that the rigid Silent Gliss aluminium tracks are, because the flexible profile and nylon gliders do not produce the consistent glider spacing that a wave heading requires across a curve. For curved applications where a wave heading is specified, we advise on the best approach at the survey stage — in some cases a rigid bent track with a wave glider system is achievable at the required radius, and in others a standard heading on the SG 6840 is the more practical solution.
Do you install the Silent Gliss 6840 in Poole and across Dorset?
Yes. We are an authorised Silent Gliss dealer supplying and installing the full Silent Gliss curtain track range — including the SG 6840 flexible track — across Poole, Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Christchurch and the wider Dorset and South Coast area. Every SG 6840 installation begins with a full site survey to confirm the curve geometry before ordering. Contact our team to discuss your project and we will advise on whether the SG 6840 or a rigid bent track is the correct specification for your specific application.
