When the vanes are open, the two translucent sheer panels filter direct sunlight into a soft, even, glare-free quality across the room whilst the S-curved fabric vanes float gently between them, creating the distinctive layered, ethereal appearance that makes the Silhouette immediately recognisable. Simultaneously, the sheer panels provide effective daytime privacy from street level and neighbouring properties — the room is visible from outside as a diffused, softened interior rather than a clear view through the window. And the view from inside the room through the open vanes remains largely unobstructed — the landscape, garden or streetscape beyond the window is still visible through the floating vane gaps in a way that a roller blind, a roman blind or a solid curtain cannot achieve.
The difference between the Silhouette and the Pirouette — the other soft vane shade in the Luxaflex range — is principally one of vane profile and visual refinement. The Pirouette uses flat fabric vanes attached to the front sheer panel.
