Warema logo

The Warema 50 shares the same design philosophy as the Warema 550 — full cassette protection, motorised operation and Warema’s German engineering quality — in a more compact profile suited to smaller-scale awning applications. Where the Warema 550 is the specification for principal terraces and large outdoor areas requiring a wide span and deep projection, the Warema 50 is the specification for window awnings, balcony shading, smaller terrace applications and any installation where wall fixing space, projection clearance or budget makes the Warema 550 an overspecification. Both systems share the same operating principle and the same approach to quality — the Warema 50 is not a compromised product but a correctly scaled one.

The compact cassette housing of the Warema 50 retracts the fabric and arms completely within its aluminium profile when not in use, maintaining the same clean facade appearance as the Warema 550 in the retracted position. The slimmer housing dimension means the Warema 50 can be fitted above individual windows, within the reveal of a bifolding door opening or above a narrow balcony where the 550’s larger headbox would protrude excessively. The fabric range and powder-coated frame colour options are consistent with the Warema 550, allowing both systems to be specified alongside each other on the same property with matched fabric and frame finishes.

The Warema 50 is motorised as standard with remote handset, wall switch and Warema WMS app control. Wind and sun sensors are available as accessories, providing the same automatic retraction and deployment capability as the Warema 550 system. As an authorised Warema dealer, we supply and install the Warema 50 across Poole, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Bournemouth and the wider Dorset and South Coast area, with full site survey, electrical first fix co-ordination, installation and commissioning included in our service.

For larger terrace and outdoor shading applications, the Warema 550 is the appropriate specification. For external window solar shading at glazed wall and window openings, the Warema external Venetian blind is the corresponding system. System: Warema 50 motorised compact cassette awning

Cassette: full powder-coated aluminium enclosure — slimmer profile than Warema 550; fabric and arms fully retracted when not in use. Arms: articulated spring-tensioned aluminium arms. Motor: electric tubular motor — extend and retract; progressive start and stop. Control: remote handset; wall switch; Warema WMS app; smart home integration via WMS interface — KNX, Crestron, Control4 and other BMS platforms at specification stage. Wind sensor: anemometer — automatic retraction above set wind speed threshold; recommended for exposed, balcony and coastal installations. Sun sensor: pyranometer — automatic deployment above set solar irradiance threshold. Fabric: solution-dyed acrylic — comprehensive pattern and plain colour range consistent with Warema 550 collection; UV and weather resistant. Frame finish: powder-coated aluminium — extensive RAL range; colour-matched to Warema 550 where both systems installed on same property. Suitable applications: window awnings; balcony shading; smaller terraces; bifolding door openings; any application where Warema 550 span and projection exceed requirement or headbox dimension is constrained. Upgrade: Warema 550 for wider span and greater projection. Installation: wall-mounted to masonry or structural fixing substrate — fixing design confirmed during design stage survey. Electrical first fix: mains power to motor position — route confirmed during pre-installation survey. Supply and installation available across Poole, Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Christchurch, Salisbury and the wider Dorset, Hampshire and South Coast area. Fabric swatches, RAL colour chart and product data sheets available on request from our specification team.

 FAQ

What is the Warema 50 awning?

The Warema 50 is a compact motorised full-cassette retractable awning for windows, smaller terraces, balconies and bifolding door openings. It shares the same design philosophy as the Warema 550 — full aluminium cassette enclosure protecting the fabric and arms when retracted, motorised operation, wind and sun sensor options and Warema WMS smart home integration — in a slimmer profile housing suited to installations where the Warema 550’s larger headbox dimension would be excessive or impractical. It is motorised as standard with remote handset, wall switch and app control. We supply and install the Warema 50 across Poole, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Bournemouth and the wider Dorset and South Coast area as an authorised Warema dealer.

What is the difference between the Warema 50 and the Warema 550?

Both the Warema 50 and the Warema 550 are motorised full-cassette retractable awnings sharing the same operating principle, fabric range, frame finish options and Warema build quality. The difference is in scale and application. The Warema 550 is the larger system — designed for principal terraces and outdoor areas requiring spans of up to 5000mm and projections of up to 3000mm. The Warema 50 uses a more compact cassette housing in a slimmer profile, making it the correct specification for window awnings, smaller terraces, balconies and bifolding door applications where the Warema 550’s span and projection capacity exceeds the requirement or where the larger headbox dimension would sit disproportionately above a single window or narrow opening. On properties where both a principal terrace and individual window positions require awnings, the 550 and 50 can be specified together with matched fabric and frame finishes throughout.

Is the Warema 50 suitable for balcony installations?

Yes. The Warema 50 is one of the most commonly specified awnings for balcony applications — the compact cassette housing fits within the dimensional constraints of most balcony parapets and soffits where a full-size awning system would be impractical, and the full cassette protection is particularly important on balcony installations where the awning is exposed to the elements year-round without the shelter available at ground-floor terrace level. Wind sensor automation is strongly recommended on balcony installations, providing automatic retraction when wind speed exceeds the threshold and protecting the awning from the higher and more variable wind exposure typical at elevated positions. We confirm the fixing substrate, projection clearance and wind sensor specification for every balcony installation during the site survey.

Can the Warema 50 fabric and frame be matched to a Warema 550 on the same property?

Yes. The Warema 50 and Warema 550 share the same solution-dyed acrylic fabric collection and the same powder-coated aluminium frame finish range, making it straightforward to specify both systems on the same property with completely matched fabric patterns and frame colours. This is a common specification on larger residential properties where the Warema 550 shades a principal south-facing terrace and the Warema 50 provides individual window awnings or balcony shading above secondary openings — the same fabric and frame colour throughout gives the property a resolved, co-ordinated external appearance rather than a mix of different awning systems and colours. We confirm the fabric and frame match between systems during the combined site survey and specification meeting.
